The Answers To 3 Big Questions About Article Marketing

The internet is seriously hungry for quality content. Every day, millions of web pages are being added to the billions already there. And all of those pages need to attract their visitors and each of them must have something different to say.

One internet marketing avenue is article marketing, which has a focus entirely dedicated to delivering that content. One way to make money online on a regular basis is to write and publish articles, many people do this and are testament to this being a great way to earn money.

What is article marketing all about then? What results can be expected and how difficult is it really?

They sure are large questions, but here's my angle on the answers to them.

Exactly what does one need to do to be an article marketer?

In its most simple form, it could just be a series of articles that you could put on your own website or blog. You've probably done it already without knowing it if you have ever made a blog post of more than a few hundred words. OK fine, but all that effort is required for something that is only going to be used once, why?

The idea with article marketing is to maximise the benefit from your efforts that you initially made and to leverage as much out of it as possible.

When you syndicate your article, it then becomes available for other people to publish on their sites and they must include the resource box as specified by you. That resource box will, in most cases, contain your link back to your site or affiliate product.

You need to send your article to article directories for syndication, this is simple and there are literally hundreds of article directories to post to. Maybe the best known directory is EzineArticles, but there are a great deal more available for you to use. The primary reason to publish on article directories is to expose your article to people searching for the type of content that you have written about, and then you want them to read your article and click on your link through to your offer.

People say article marketing is easy, can that be true?

Some people really just can't write articles, so those people would call it hard, whereas others find it really simple, so they would call it easy. As with most other things and skills in life, it does get easier the more you practice.

The trick is in finding which kind of articles you find easiest to write.

Possibly "how to" and "tips" type articles are the best way for beginners to get started. Both these types of article start with posing a frequently asked question, such as "what is the quickest way to make money on the internet"? or "how do I stop the dog barking"? it then goes on to deliver the answer.

This "how to" style is quite straightforward, the question would be expanded in the first paragraph then the solution would be explained over four or maybe five paragraphs, and the final paragraph would be a summary of both the question as well as the answer.

You need to do some research for the tips article, find between 3 and 5 solutions, you then present these solutions as your tips, one per paragraph, possibly including bullet points. The introductory and concluding paragraphs would be constructed in a similar manner as the "how to" article.

When you first start writing articles, it will probably take you anywhere between 1 and 2 hours each one, but you will get quicker with practice, you then need to submit it to article directories. There are different views on how many directories to submit to, if you were doing it for backlinking purposes, then you would try and submit to all of the directories, but as we're doing it for website traffic, it's probably best to just submit to the top few directories.

As an article marketer, what sort of results can I expect?

This is entirely and directly related to the effort that you are prepared to expend on your project.

You can expect very poor results if you only submit one article every month to a couple of directories.

The professionals in the article marketing business spend a lot of time writing a large number of articles, and over time they end up with an impressive amount of articles published. This has the ability to deliver a constant flow of qualified traffic to their sites, and if they have good conversion rates, this can result in a considerable income stream which would be almost impossible to stop once started.

Anybody with the determination and skills required to build a large body of their work in this manner will have a very effective sustainable business, which is not subject to the vagaries of search engine algorithm changes. Long term rewards can be expected from a couple hundred articles all over the internet, although it is extremely unlikely that any individual article would have much effect on its own.
